Baltimore Oriole

Baltimore orioles present an interesting breeding pattern.

The blocks 389 and 544 on the Tennessee line are in the Deep Loess Habitat. DLO is a geological region noted for its loose, sandy soil and eroded hills. The soil is so unstable that much of the region is in hardwood forest. Baltimore orioles seem to be following that geological region all the way down to 831 near Natchez. In the hilly coastal plain habitat of eastern Mississippi, baltimore orioles are found as far south as Meridian (Block 160 is Collinsville), but no further.
