Cattle Egret

The breeding population of cattle egrets in Mississippi continues to expand. Cattle egrets were only confirmed in the Kincaid (372) and Bluff Lake (77) blocks. The Mississippi Museum of Natural History is a better source of information on cattle egret rookeries in the state. The large number of observations is an indication that this species can be found in the summer throughout the state, except for the northeast corner of Mississippi and the barrier islands.
