Eastern Bluebird

Eastern Bluebirds were common breeders in Mississippi, except for the heavily agricultural areas in the Delta.

Bluebirds adapt well to the suburban habitat so prevalent in Mississippi. Many of these suburban dwellers have placed bluebird houses on their property.

Checking bluebird houses for used nests are an easy way to confirm this species. Or, the spotted-breasted young sitting on wires are easy to spot.
