Great-horned Owl

Great-horned owls are always a difficult species to find in an atlas block unless you have someone living in the block. Often times, local landowners are the best sources of information on this species. Screech owl tapes after dark can be successful in attracting either the owl or a vocal response. No doubt, this map under represents the nesting range of great-horned owls.

One way of confirming this species is to locate used nests.
