Great Egret

Great egrets are common across Mississippi wherever there is water. Catfish ponds in the Delta and in the black prairie of eastern Mississippi have provided new feeding grounds for this species.

A colonial nester, this species is going to be under reported by the randomness of the atlas process. The Mississippi Museum of National History keeps records on great egret breeding areas.
