Lark Sparrow

Lark sparrows were most often found breeding in the northeast corner of Mississippi. The song is unique and makes it easy to locate lark sparrows. Usually, the young are then easy to spot as they wait in bunches to be fed. This species was found both in grasslands/agricultural areas (the Prairie block) and in savannah habitat (Paden). The two confirmations from the eastern side of the state indicate that this species may be an uncommon breeder north of Interstate 20.
