Warbling Vireo

The confirmation of a warbling vireo in the Preston block (604) came as a surprise because this species is hard to find even during spring migration. BBS records record a few breeding records from western Mississippi. This pair with young was breeding around an abandoned house and car overgrown with vines.

The best field mark on the warbling vireo is the grayish to greenish color and the white eye line. Often this bird is most easily found by identifying the call, which is distinctive.
