A strong pocket of Yellow-throated warblers was found in the loess hills between Vicksburg and Jackson. Otherwise, the reports were spotty.
This species is best located by call, but the call can be mixed up with that of other warblers. The spotty reports may be an indication that some atlasers did not know the call. I tended to find this species near water and not far from cyprus trees. In Missouri, we found this species in sycamore trees.
Once located, this species can be placed on territory.
